Adam G’s Male Art & Photography Resource is back!

Hey Folks…

Just a little heads up to let you know that my pal Adam G is back with his Male Art & Photography Resource Blog and it’s better than ever! He’s put together some really cool features on some of your fave artists of Gay Male Erotica such as JC Etheredge and FMX, two of my personal fave artists.  He even did one on yours truly!

New features pop up pretty regularly and they usually include great interviews, artwork and/or photography!  Definitely worth checking out on a regular basis!

Welcome back Adam G!!!!

Hugz + kisses,

A few issues ago I wrote about 3 art Blogs that I particularly enjoyed.  It was a lot of fun to chat about the artists who own and operate these Blogs, and today I thought I might talk to you all about four other Blogs that are definitely worth note!

On this issues’ cover is a beautiful piece of deliciously naughty art by an exceptionally talented artists named Nikism.  This fantastic illustrator is Japanese, so you will have to forgive me if I have some of my facts wrong — sadly I do not read Japanese! LOL!  But the language barrier should certainly never stop you from enjoying the incredible art presented on Nikism’s Blog.

Always beautifully colored and fantastically illustrated, Nikism’s art is major league eye candy!  I love Yaoi.  I love Manga.  And Nikism’s work is somewhere perfectly wedged in the middle.  The work is incredibly erotic and it is well worth checking out the older posts for a look at all the images available on the Blog.

Next on my list is a Blog called Absinthe Studios: Superhero Slash. The name of the Blog really says it all – it truly is a place where you can go to see your favorite mainstream heroes raunch it up in style.

Ever fantasize about the Vision groping the Falcon?  Or what about Booster Gold fingering Blue Beetle’s more than willing rump?  It’s all there – and more!  Absinthe Studios is owned and operated by Gene and he is responsible for all the wonderful hero fan art so deliciously displayed.  I tell ya, there is something there for everyone.  Gene has drawn dozens of our fave comic book characters doing the nasty, and it’s a pleasure to peruse his wares!

Now I want to tell you all about the Blog of one of my fave artists’ from the Y!Gallery – Absolutbleu!  Bleuboys is a fairly new addition to the Blogosphere, but it’s everything you could hope for from Absolutbleu.  It’s an amazing display of this fantastic artists’ vast talent, and better still, it’s a sort of “behind the scenes” look at this work.

Bleu treats us to some info about the images as well as his thought on his artwork, which is always a lot of fun for a fan to lap up –trust me – being a fan, I speak from experience. LOL!  Bear in mind, Bleuboys is relatively new, and there aren’t a ton of postings yet, but Absolutbleu is a very prolific artist and I have no doubt that more wicked posts are on the way!

And lastly on my little list of must see’s is Silencio’s Gay Geek Art Blog.  Most of us know who the amazing Silencio is.  His artwork is exceptionally striking and instantly arousing, both for the imagination AND the loins!  Silencio has recently created his Blog as well, so like Absolutbleu’s Blog, more posts are forthcoming, but it is truly well worth taking the time to check out what is already there.

One of my personal fave illustrations from Silencio is his amazing fan art of Chris Redfield from Resident Evil 5TRES, TRES HOT!!!  If Silencio doesn’t make you weak in the knees, I will be very surprised indeed.  This artist makes everything look so easy and I guaranteed his flawless art will entrance you immediately!

So there you go, my friends.  Four veritable gems that I hope you will all enjoy, and certainly four incredibly gifted artists whose brilliant work is truly worth following.

BOYTOONS MAGAZINE #152 – 3 Blogs to watch!

Hiya Folks…

Blogs have made life a lot simpler for artists who want to get their works out there but who don’t want to go through the trouble of a conventional website.  In fact, one could say that Blogs have become more accessible than traditional websites. Blogs are the calling card and online portfolios of many emerging artists and their only drawback is that they can come and go all too quickly and easily.

Still, it’s always exciting to discover a new artist’s work, or to re-connect with someone’s work after losing touch with them.  Blogs are great for that.

Today, I want to talk to you about 3 new Blogs that have recently come to my attention.

BOYTOONS MAGAZINE #126 – Hot Fictional Guys: The BLOG!

There are a few really cool Blogs out there that specialize in bringing us pics of our favorite mainstream heroes in various stages of undress. Shirtless Superheroes is one such example. Since being created, Shirtless Superheroes has excelled at posting sexy pics of the big-name North American comic book heroes we all love, wearing next to nothing – and in some cases, actually wearing nothing. These are not fan arts – no, no – they are actual scans from the actual, official comics!

Recently, I was happy to learn of a Blog called HOT FICTIONAL GUYS, owned and operated by Lagosta. Along the same lines as Shirtless Superheroes, HFG does differ in that it focuses on a lot of Yaoi and Manga characters, while also including North American comic characters for good measure.

I will admit I don’t know a lot about Yaoi or Manga. I’ve loved everything I’ve seen done by Gynocrat, and I am of course a big fan of Street Fighter and Devilman, but aside from these fine examples, I’m not all that well versed on these genres.

The really cool thing about HFG is that it not only brings you beautiful scans of the stuff, but it respects the origins of the scans (as does Shirtless Superheroes), and it also gives you some much appreciated background info on the characters it is featuring. I love that! You see, not being up on Yaoi and Manga doesn’t mean I don’t often enjoy what I see. A great source of frustration to me is stumbling upon a snippet from the genre and not having any other information to accompany the imagery. How am I to learn more? To see more?

Hot Fictional Guys makes sure you don’t have that problem. It happily promotes the source of its scans and on occasion even gives you in depth creator and series info. Again, very cool!

As a publisher of comics myself, should I object to people scanning illustrations from printed (or even web) comics and books and posting them on their Blogs or websites? It’s an interesting question, and I think I have an interesting answer! LOL!

I have always felt that there is a fine line to be observed here. If a Blogger or website owner goes to the trouble of identifying the source of his or her scans and actually giving creator/publisher credit, then I feel that it falls under the category of free publicity. That’s something most publishers appreciate. (Allow me to practice what I preach – this issue’s beautiful cover hunk is Kyosuke Iwaki, a character featured in Youka Nitta’s manga Haru o Daiteita. Thank you Lagosta for introducing me to this hottie!)

That being said, a certain amount of decorum must be observed. Posting the complete oeuvre is not something I approve of… Most publishers don’t. But samples and glimpses from a series that excites you are fun, and I think that most Bloggers out there get that.

After all, as fans of the stuff, we all want to get teased. We love to see previews… at the movies, previews are quite often a HUGE portion of the fun. I personally hate missing them! Again, it all boils down to respect – respect for the content and for the people who created it. In my opinion that is vital. This is my take on the subject. That doesn’t mean all publishers and artists subscribe to this way of thinking, and ultimately, that has to be respected.

So if you’re like me and would love a proper education in Yaoi and Manga, from a source that respects the genre and the men and women who create it, then I strongly urge you to check out Hot Fictional Guys. It’s a work-safe source of beautiful imagery and information that just may open you up to new stuff you never even knew was out there.
